What to Expect in a Consult

Step 1: Clinical History
We begin by reviewing your clinical history, along with the patient form you've completed. Now this can be variable according the the type of complaint or goals you are working on. There may be different lines of questioning or forms to fill depending on the condition we are working with.

Step 2: Examination
This again will look different between participants, mainly the focus is getting a baseline of your functional ability. This can be in the form of strength testing, agility testing, outcome measures, range of movement assessment as well as your symptoms you present with.

Step 3: Management
Physios have a range of tools to support you in your care. Including:
-
Exercise management and strengthening - this can be in the form of 'games', in the form of hydrotherapy exercise - this all varies according to you, your limitations and which activities you will actually enjoy doing - there is no point giving you a list of boring exercises you won't do.
-
Manual therapy - this can be in the form of joint mobilisation, dry needling, TENs, soft tissue massage
-
Advice - so this relates to giving you personalised tools to help you manage your (or your loved one's) condition outside of the clinical setting. This may be in the form of providing bracing options, ergonomic supports, compression supports or other assistive devices or technologies.
Why would I see a Physio over an Osteo?
We do manage a number of similar conditions, however physioterhapy training also does cover a lot of additional placements which can make us the logical person to refer for in cases of post operative rehab or conditions. However we do work tegether here, so we may combine both Physio and Osteo care in order to support your complaint.
Can I claim on Private Health?
This depends on your cover and your policy, we have onsite health claiming, however to esure you are covered check yoour policy first.
What if I am only here on a holiday and I have a regular Osteo/ Physio at home?
That's fine! We can easily send an email or letter for your regular provider to follow up when you see them next!
I have a regular Physio in Melbourne, can I still see you?

We provide collaborative care, so yes of course you can see us and we can simply email or write a letter for your regular practitioner to keep them updated.

Do you see NDIS clients?
-
Yes, we can see NDIS clients as long as our care is relating to the underlying condition you are recieving support for and also that it is clinically justified for your care.
-
Please call Fiona to discuss directly as this may vary between people.
-
The importance factor is that you have discussed this with your plan manager and that we can be listed as a support.
